17 Dec Pulled over in Jersey Cove

One hundred years from now, descendants who know only driverless vehicles will scratch their heads in wonder at this curious cultural artifact. On the Cabot Trail just north of the Englishtown Ferry, a dash cam recorded this weirdly captivating encounter between a Mountie with attitude and sloppy cube van driver with same:

Jersey Cove isn’t Chicago, or even Toronto, and Shawn isn’t black or Syrian, so instead of 16 bullets, the encounter netted him $787.42 in fines.

The comments are almost as rich as the video.

Note that the video has been edited, with sections removed at several points. I’m guessing “Shawn” obtained the video under the federal Access to Information and Privacy statute, and posted it himself, so we may have a skewed record of the encounter. I’m sure MacLeod Lorway Insurance brokers will be pleased by the revelation staff opine freely to police about their customers’ driving skills and personalities. Shawn’s last name and the officer’s can be found on line, but as I couldn’t verify either, I omitted them.
